“Candidates for Texas State Senate and Texas State Representative to answer citizen’s questions.”
The Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce will welcome candidates for contested Republican primary races for the Texas State Senate – District 5 and Texas State Representative – District 12 & District 14 on Monday April 23 at the College Station Hilton.
The evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with the State Representative candidates John Raney (incumbent) and Hal Hawkins who are competing for the District 14 seats. Tucker Anderson, Timothy Delasandro, Kyle Kacal, Chris Scotti and Josh Tetens will also answer questions about their race for the newly created District 12 seat for the Texas House.
Immediately following, State Senate candidates will take the stage. Ben Bius, a real estate developer from Huntsville and Dr. Charles Schwertner, a OB/GYN from Georgetown are vying for the seat formally occupied by Steve Ogden since
There is plenty of seating available to the public, and seating is based on a first come, first served basis. There is no cost to attend the forum, and the public does not have to RSVP to attend.
No political signs will be allowed into the facility, and no “large” displays of political items will be allowed (ie: t-shirts with large lettering in support or against a candidate, baseball hats with a candidates’ name, etc). Small stickers or buttons are acceptable. The Chamber welcomes anyone to attend the event, however asks that those in attendance respect the candidates’ time; any disruptions – such as shouting while a candidate is answering a question - will not be tolerated.
The forum will be moderated by Scott DeLucia from WTAW, and will give each candidate equal time to answer questions from the general public. Questions may be submitted by emailing Dena Gaskin at dena@bcschamber.org, or by submitting a hand-written question at the forum itself. Please note that time may not allow all questions to be answered during the forum, and those that send questions in advance have a better chance of having them asked during the forum.
For those unable to attend, they may listen to the live broadcast on WTAW 1620 AM.
